Sam was born with a heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which basically means the left side of his heart did not develop properly. He had three corrective surgeries as a child, one of which placed more stress on the liver which resulted in Sam developing liver cancer at the age of 27. Sam fought hard, and was beating the cancer, but passed from other complications at 28.
Sam was larger than life, never let anything hold him back, and packed 100 years of life into the 28 years he was given.
He inspired us daily, and still continues to inspire us even though we can no longer see him.
We established The Sam DiGiacomo Fund, to continue his legacy, and provide support to some of the organizations that helped Sam throughout his life.
Right now, our fund is organized by Sam's parents Lori and Tony; his siblings Katie and Nick, and brother-in-law Chris. We are led by our CEO, Sam's dog Vito.
